Gavin Newsom Knocks Over Child During Basketball Game On China Trip
Newsom, a former college athlete, took a tumble during a recent trip to China, knocking over a young boy in the process.

SACRAMENTO, CA — Gov. Gavin Newsom was a high school and college athlete but his athletic prowess was not on display during a recent trip to China, when video of California’s leader plowing into a young boy on the basketball court made the rounds on social media.
In the recording, Newsom has joined a group of children in their game and is seen spinning a basketball on the tip of his finger, dribbling and crashing sideways into the boy, sending them both tumbling to the ground. Newsom then pats the child on the back, embraces him, says “I’ve got you,” and the two get up, smiling.
Newsom is the first American governor to visit China in more than four years. According to his office, the goal of the trip was to focus on climate action, economic development and tourism, and strengthening cultural ties. The governor also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
