Man Swept Away In Creek Dies Amid SoCal Flooding: Police
"Water levels can rise rapidly and currents may be stronger than they appear," police said.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA — A man died after being swept away in a creek in Santa Barbara County as heavy rain brought road closures and flash flood warnings to the area Saturday, according to authorities.
The man’s family called 911 around noon to report he had been swept into Maria Ygnacio Creek, authorities said.
Fire and police crews searched extensively under hazardous conditions and found the man shortly before 2 p.m., dead in the creek near San Marcos Road and Via Parva, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
“With heavy rain continuing across the region, the Sheriff’s Office urges the public to stay clear of creeks, rivers, drainage channels, and other waterways,” the agency said in a news release.
