Agoura High Student Named Star's Girls Water Polo Player of Year

Despite a disappointing season, senior Megan Linder receives top honors.

Inspite of a disappointing season finish, senior Megan Linder, who will be attending Loyola Marymount in the fall, has been named the Star's Girls Water Polo Player of the Year, according to a report in the Ventura County Star.

Though the team wanted to play one more game with the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 championship on the line, it was the 12-8 semifinal loss to No. 2 Corona-Santiago which closed the door this season, said the Star.

"[Linder] was big for the team," Agoura head coach Jason Rosenthal told the Star. "She was stellar at both ends of the pool."

According to the report, Linder produced 66 goals and 43 assists. She added 42 steals, 52 drawn ejections and 10 field blocks.

She was a first-team All-CIF selection along with teammate India Forster, the report said.

"It's really hard for me," Linder, 17, told the Star. "I thought we had the team to win. Next year will be a great team. I gave it my all and my best."
