Agoura Hills Honor Ride Celebrates Fallen Soldier

The Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride will pay tribute to Marine L. Cpl. Blake Howey of Glendora in an honor ride April 27.

Marine L. Cpl. Blake Howey was only 20 years old and stationed in Iraq for only three weeks when he was killed while conducting combat operations in 2007. Now six years later, the fallen Glendora soldier will be remembered in an honor ride in Agoura Hills Saturday, April 27.

The Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride, a self-paced, noncompetitive ride through hills and neighborhoods, will start and end at the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, 27050 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills.

Ride 2 Recovery is a program sponsored by the Fitness Challenge Foundation, which supports physical and psychological rehabilitation for injured veterans, including cycling.

There is no cost for injured veterans to participate in the race. All ages are welcome. For all riders except injured veterans, the cost is $75 per rider or $125 per family.

Teams of five or more are $60 per rider.

Riders have a choice of four distances: 17, 40, 62.5 or 100 miles.

Check in for the first races, the 100-mile and 62.5 miles is at 6:30 a.m.
