Agoura Hills Named 'Affordable Alternative' To Pricier ZIP Codes

Two LA County cities were named affordable alternatives to places like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — OK, hold your scoffs and guffaws.

With an average home price in excess of $1 million, it's no easy feat to buy property in Agoura Hills. But in a sign of just how outrageous Los Angeles home prices are, a recent study named the city an "affordable alternative" to places like Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

Personal finance site GOBankingRates on Friday published a list of California's seven most expensive ZIP codes, alongside a list of six (more) affordable alternatives.

The most expensive locales in the state, along with their typical 2023 home values are:

  • Atherton, 94027, $7.36 million
  • Beverly Hills, 90210, $5.11 million
  • Los Altos Hills, 94022, $4.26 million
  • Santa Monica, 90402, $4.17 million
  • Montecito, 93108, $3.94 million
  • Rancho Santa Fe, 92067, $3.9 million
  • Newport Beach, 92657, $3.86 million

The median sale price of a home in Agoura Hills in March was $1.04 million, up 1.2 percent since last year, according to Redfin.
