Thousand Oaks Ranked Among Top 10 Safest Cities In California

AGOURA HILLS, CA — Online security review website SafeWise released its ranking of the Top 50 Safest Cities in California for 2022 on March 8, and Thousand Oaks was ranked the 10th safest city in the state.

To determine how Thousand Oaks became one of the safest cities in the Golden State, SafeWise looked at FBI crime statistics and demographic information for each city in California, the company said.

"The 'safest' cities rankings are intended to highlight cities with low crime rates and ignite conversation and action around how to make all cities and communities safer," SafeWise said on its website.

All of the top 10 safest cities had crime rates below statewide and national numbers, according to SafeWise. According to a SafeWise survey, 56 percent of California residents "feel a high daily level of concern for their safety," and only four in 10 said they "feel safe in their state."

Thousand Oaks' violent crime and property crime rate has decreased every year since 2020, SafeWise reported.

Thousand Oaks did not make the top 10 list last year.
