Fire Severely Damages Alameda Auto Upholstery Shop
Foss Upholstery & Restoration had smoke damage throughout and several vehicles were lost in the blaze.
Alameda, CA— A fire at an Alameda auto upholstery shop Tuesday night has left the business closed for an indeterminate amount of time.
"We'll survive. Eventually we'll get out of this," Wayne Foss, the owner of Foss Upholstery & Restoration at 2318 Clement Ave., said Wednesday.
Foss said the building was still in good shape, but the business's interior had smoke damage throughout and several vehicles were lost in the blaze. The business is closed today and it is too early to tell when he will be able to reopen.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 9 p.m. and found smoke and fire coming from the building. The firefighters forced their way inside and attacked the fire while cutting holes in the roof to ventilate it, according to the fire department.
They had it extinguished by 9:36 p.m., but the damage to the workshop was severe.

No one was inside the business when the fire broke out and no one was injured. Fire investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
The Oakland Fire Department assisted Alameda firefighters by covering the vacant fire stations while all 25 Alameda firefighters worked to put out the blaze.
