Man's Body Recovered From Water Off Alameda

ALAMEDA, CA — A man's body was recovered from the water off Alameda shortly before 7 p.m. last Friday night, according to the Alameda Fire Department.

The victim's name is not immediately available.

The Alameda Police Department is heading the investigation into his death.

Around 4:30 p.m., the man was observed going under the water after having trouble swimming. A police officer trained in water rescue immediately got into the water to attempt a rescue. When Alameda Firefighters arrived, rescue swimmers and the Sub-surface Dive Rescue Team.

The man's body was underwater when it was found.
