Police, CHP Prevent Unpermitted Car Show
Police received a tip about the event that was advertised online.

ALAMEDA, CA — The Alameda Police Department reports that it prevented an unpermitted car show last weekend.
It was being advertised online. As the event’s start time approached, officers saw modified cars heading towards the event’s location. Alameda Police officers, with help from the California Highway Patrol’s Hayward and Oakland Divisions, began conducting traffic stops for various safety violations. The event organizers decided to cancel the car show.
The police department reports that unpermitted events cause congestion, noise, and littering, impacting both residents and businesses. "Moreover, some participants engage in dangerous activities like street racing, exhibition of speed, and stunts. These actions pose a risk to drivers, spectators, and bystanders."
"We extend our gratitude to the dedicated APD officers who chose to come in on their days off, and to the California Highway Patrol for their assistance. Collaboration is crucial in addressing quality of life concerns and ensuring roadway safety for everyone."
The police department was tipped off about the car show. "As we approach spring and summer, we encourage community members to report any information about unplanned events that could jeopardize our community’s safety to APD."
