1st Time Homebuyer Class Open To Albany Residents

Attendees will learn how to create a budget, repair credit, learn about the escrow process and how to find a lender.

ALBANY, CA — If you're a prospective first time homebuyer in Albany looking to learn more about the process, this Feb. 8 online workshop might be just what you're looking for.

Echo Housing is hosting a free First-Time Homebuyer Workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where attendees will learn how to create a budget, shop for a lender, repair credit and discover different types of mortgages.

Guests will also learn what to expect during the loan and escrow processes.

The class is open to tenants living in Alameda, Contra Costa or Monterey counties. Or to those working in Livermore or Pleasanton.

"This workshop will help you determine if you are ready for homeownership, how to select a lender and shop for a home, all about closing costs, and how to be a successful homeowner," according to Echo Housing.

The course also satisfies HUD's First-Time Homebuyer Education requirements for federal, state and local housing assistance programs. Those looking to receive an HUD certificate must attend this workshop and a counseling session.

The deadline to register for this workshop is noon on Feb. 6. Those with disabilities must contact Echo Housing by Jan. 31 to get reasonable accommodations.
