Several BART stations that were shut down this afternoon because of a fire near BART's Richmond train yard have reopened.
Service to the Richmond, El Cerrito del Norte and El Cerrito Plaza stations was halted around 1:50 p.m. because of the fire.
The stations have since reopened, but as of 2:35 p.m. BART was still reporting delays of more than 20 minutes on the Richmond line.
There is limited service on the line, an employee said.
The fire burned near 15th Street and Portola Avenue and was extinguished around 2 p.m., Richmond fire Chief Merlin Turner said.
Crews were still at the scene as of 2:45 p.m. and there was still some smoldering debris, he said.
Turner said the fire started in some grass and debris that was piled along the tracks.
He said no injuries were reported, but some BART communications equipment may have been slightly damaged in the blaze.
