Board Honors Perry Family for Gay Marriage Stand
The Perry family was honored by the school board of the Albany Unified School District Tuesday night for their "historic role" in championing same-sex marriage rights.

The school board of the Albany Unified School District voted 5-0 Tuesday night to honor the parents of two Albany students for their "historic role" in the campaign for same-sex marriage rights.
The board resolution recognized Kristin Perry and Sandra Stier, who filed a federal suit challenging California's Prop 8, which bans same-sex marriage. It also honored their sons, Eliot and Spencer Perry, who've attended Albany schools since 2005.
The resolution, which is attached, declared "Sandra Stier, and Kristin, Eliot and Spencer Perry to be civil rights exemplars and model citizens of the year."
