'Girls' Rock!' at Albany YMCA Begins Oct. 2 – Advance Sign-up Required
Advance registration is required for the upcoming session of "Girls Rock!" – a weekly adventure and activity program for middle school girls co-sponsored by the Albany Police Activities League and the Albany YMCA. It meets Wednesday afternoons.
The fall session of "Girls Rock!" – an adventure and activity group for middle school girls co-sponsored by the Albany YMCA and Albany Police Activities League (APAL) – begins Oct. 2.
"Girls Rock! is an adventurous girls empowerment group that includes creative projects, group sessions and fun field trips like rock climbing and mountain biking," according to APAL Facebook page.
"We want girls to stand strong (be who they are) and stand up (for those who are different). This is a YMCA/APAL collaborative program. We meet Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-3:30p (except on field trip days where parents pick up at the location by 5:30pm)."
The next session, based at Albany Middle School, runs from Oct. 2 to Nov. 20. The cost is $70, including all field trips, and registration packets can be picked up at the Albany YMCA.
"Minimum enrollment required to run the program, so advanced registration is required," according to APAL.
Those who wish more information can contact the Albany YMCA at 510-525-1130 or Paula Cooper, Youth & Family Director, at pcooper@ymca-cba.org.
