New Democratic Club Starts in Albany in Response to National Conservative Agenda

The Alameda County Democratic Party is pleased to announce the creation of a new Democratic club for the Albany area. The new club will have its initial organizational meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 7pm. The meeting will be held at University Village, Four Corners Room at 1125 Jackson Street, Albany, CA 94706.

“With the disappointing results of the national election on top of the challenges already facing the community, it is imperative that Democrats need to band together and worker harder to fight for democratic ideals. We need to work on resolving outstanding issues in the community and beat back the conservative agenda of the new administration,” said Jennifer Radics-Johnson, founder of the Albany Democratic Club. “We are excited to offer a new venue for Democrats living in the Albany area to participate in local, state and national politics.”

Albany resident and community activist Brian Beall stated, “The Albany Democratic Club is a dream come true for myself and other members of the party and community. I believe that this Club will change the face of Albany politics, just as similar clubs have throughout California. It is an idea whose time has come”.

With the city of Albany having a unique demographic of lots of young, diverse families and Democrats, the Albany Democratic Club hopes to attract more young families by offering childcare during the meetings in the near future. Radics-Johnson also noted that additional Democratic Party Leaders and elected officials will be attending, including Albany Vice Mayor, Nick Pilch.
