Police Calls: DUI Arrest – Car Full of Kids Going 70 on Buchanan
The Albany police log for Sept. 27 includes a DUI arrest of a driver in a car full of kids going 70 mph on Buchanan, three hit and run accidents with damage within four hours, problems at the Albany High Football game and a backpack taken from a car.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.
Friday, Sept. 27
Theft at Target – At 11:36 a.m., police received a report of a theft in progress in Target by a heavy-set woman in her 40s who was leaving in a red Chevy pickup. Disposition: Case report taken.
Hit and run with damage – At 11:51 a.m., police logged a report of a hit and run with damage at Buchanan and Pierce. Disposition: Log note only.
Hit and run with damage – At 11:54 a.m., police logged a report of a hit and run with damage at Target. Disposition: Case report taken.
Hit and run with damage – At 3:41 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported a hit and a run with damage to the reporting party's car about 20 minutes earlier at Cornell and Solano. Disposition: Log note only.
Preschool parking blocks driveway – At 5:29 p.m., police received a complaint from a resident on Ramona that people coming to a preschool in a neighbor's residence always park blocking her driveway. She asks if the neighbor has a permit to run the business. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.
Juveniles with alcohol seek entrance to football game – At 6:21 p.m., police received a report that two juveniles were trying to enter Cougar Field for the football game with alcohol and were possibly intoxicated. They wouldn't let the reporting party check their bags. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.
Backpack stolen in auto break-in at Target – At 6:37 p.m., police received a report an auto burglary within the last hour at Target in which a left rear window was smashed and backpack belonging to the reporting party's son was taken. Disposition: Case report taken.
Warrant arrest – At 6:50 p.m., police logged a warrant arrest on Milflin Avenue.
Person denied re-admittance to football game – At 9:30 p.m., a person in the lobby complained that he had left the football game at Cougar Field and now is not being allowed back in. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.
DUI arrest – At 10:30 p.m., police logged a driving-under-the-influence arrest of a driver at Buchanan and Jackson. The vehicle had been "filled with kids" and going 70 mph westbound. (Editor's note: This information, from the incident log, may refer to the same arrest as the one listed below, which was entered on the arrest log with no time given. The location, however, is not the same.)
DUI arrest – Police arrested a 26-year-old San Pablo woman, whose occupation was listed as barrista, at Marin and Kains on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
