Police Calls: Trouble at the Dog Park, Arrests at Target, License Suspended After ID Theft

The Albany police logs for Sept. 4-5 include a person who was taking photos of dogs after hours at the dog park being chased and threatened by a male with a dog, two arrests at Target and a possibly drunk man seen carrying a lawn chair on Marin.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Sept. 4

DUI arrest
 – At 2:29 a.m., police arrested a 24-year-old Hercules woman at Solano and Kains on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Vehicle burglary – At 8:20 a.m., police received a report of vehicle burglary sometime during the night on Evelyn. Disposition: Case report taken.

Dog park altercation – At 9:12 a.m., a person reported being chased and threatened a minute ago by a male walking a dog in the dog park on Carmel for taking pictures of the dogs in the park during non-dog hours. The reporting party has a photo of license plate of the dog owner, who departed the area. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Man taking recycling – At 9:19 a.m., police received a report of a man in a white baseball hat taking recycling while going north on Madison. The reporting party wants him prosecuted. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Suspended/revoked license arrest – At 9:47 a.m., police arrested a 35-year-old Rodeo man at Madison and Castro on suspicion of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Dead, plucked turkey found under BART tracks – At 1:13 p.m., police received a report of a dead turkey that someone had tried to pluck found under the BART tracks on Masonic near the creek. Disposition: Log note only.

Mail stolen – At 1:17 p.m., police received a report of mail stolen over the past few days on Carmel. Disposition: Case report taken.

Identity theft causes suspension of license – At 10:56 a.m., police received a report from a person in Hayward who identity was used by someone who was pulled over in Albany. Now the reporting party's driver's license has been suspended. Disposition: Message left.

Conspiring, intent to commit burglary arrests – At noon and 12:12 p.m., police arrested a 20-year-old Ripon man and a 20-year-old Oakland man at Target on suspicion of conspiring to commit a crime and intent to commit burglary. The arrests followed an 11:51 a.m. report of two men using a razor blade to remove tags at Target.

Dog present after dog park hours – At 8:13 p.m., police received a report of a dog on the field on Portland after dog park hours. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Thurssday, Sept. 5

Man taking recycling – At 12:24 p.m., police received a report of a man in a black hat pushing a shopping cart and going through recyclables on Madison. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Possibly drunk man carrying lawn chair – At 3:54 p.m., police received a report of possible intoxicated man walking west at Marin and Evelyn toward San Pablo about five minutes ago carrying a lawn chair. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Outstanding warrant arrest
 – Acting on a tip received at 3:15 p.m., police arrested at 64-year-old Albany man at his residence on Madison on an outstanding warrant.

Camper at Terrace Park warned – At 7:02 p.m., police received an anonymous reporting that a homeless-looking subject was setting up camp in the BBQ area in the west end of Terrace Park. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Doorbell ringer tries door handle – At 8:45 p.m., police received a report that within the past 20 minutes, someone rang the doorbell and then tried to turn the door handle on Cornell. No one was seen. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Cash, headphones, sunglasses stolen from vehicle – At 9:16 p.m., police received a report of $50 in change, emergency cash, headphones and sunglasses taken from an unlocked vehicle sometime the between 9 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Ordway. The reporting party doesn't want a police report, just a record of the theft. Disposition: Log note only.

Male lying on ground beside Buchanan – At 11:36 p.m., police received a report of male in a black sweater lying on the ground near the fence on the south side of Buchanan at Jackson. The man appeared to breathing and the reporting party just wanted police to do a welfare check. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Loud generator – At 11:53 p.m., police received a complaint of a loud generator at Solano and Sante Fe. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.
