Police Seek Witnesses of Pickup Driver Who Attempted Contact with Girl near AHS

Albany police are seeking any witnesses to a yellow pickup with blue writing on the side that was seen driving around Albany High and Albany Middle School Wednesday morning. The driver tried to make contact with a girl, 13, near the high school.

Albany police on Friday issued an appeal for any witnesses who may have seen a yellow pickup with dark blue writing on the sides near Albany High or Albany Middle School Wednesday morning, June 12.

About 8:40 a.m., the driver of the mid-size truck drove slowly past a 13-year-old walking on Thousand Oaks near Pomona, honked his horn and called out to her, according to Albany police.

A jogger who witnessed the incident told police that he had seen the truck near the high school and middle school for some time.

On Wednesday, 6/12/2013 at approximately 8:40 A. M. a 13-year-old girl was walking on Thousand Oaks at Pomona Ave, when a man driving a yellow pickup truck slowly drove past the victim, honked his horn, and then called to her from the truck.

The victim did not stop, but swiftly walked out of the area. A man jogging nearby stopped to check on the victim. The jogger told the victim he observed the suspect truck circling the area of the Albany High School and the Albany Middle School for quite some time.

The vehicle is described as a yellow, mid-size, pickup truck with no toolboxes or lumber racks. The vehicle has dark navy blue writing along the sides. There is possibly an email or website written in the same lettering along the bed of the vehicle. The victim also remembered seeing some sort of emblem or logo on the doors to the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his mid 40's, with short dark hair, and a mustache and a wrinkled face.

Albany Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this case, and particularly with the person who told the victim that this suspect was seen at both the middle school and Albany High School.
