Serial Sex Assault Case Involves 2 Albany Juveniles: Cops
One of the victims was 9 years old, and the other 14, police said.
BERKELEY, CA — A serial sexual suspect was arrested in connection with five incidents in three East Bay cities, one of which involved a 9-year-old victim, the Berkeley Police Department said.
Tommy Giles Jr. was arrested May 24 and charged three days later by the Alameda County prosecutors with assault with attempt to commit a sex crime, committing a lewd act on a child, kidnapping to commit a sex crime or robbery, sexual battery by restraint and forced oral copulation, among other crimes, police said.
All charges include additional enhancements for kidnapping and/or weapons violations, police said.

On March 30 between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. a 9-year-old victim was walking to school when they were sexually assaulted by a suspect claiming to have a knife, police said.
On April 14 at around 1 p.m. near the 500 block of Colusa Avenue a 23-year-old woman was kidnapped and was forced to orally copulate the suspect at knifepoint, police said.

On April 29 between 9:20 and 9:40 a.m., a 23-year-old victim woman was grabbed by the suspect while she was walking in Oakland and was forced to orally copulate the suspect at knifepoint, police said.
On May 21 at around 12:30 p.m. a 60-year-old woman was sexually battered by an unknown suspect in the area of Stannage Avenue and Cedar Street, police said.
“The victim took photographs of the back of the suspect and posted them to a neighborhood website, gaining the attention of Berkeley residents,” police said in a statement.
“The suspect was identified as Tommy Giles Jr., by a Berkeley citizen. This information was reported to the Berkeley Police Department on 5/23/2022. Berkeley PD Case #22-23408.”
At around 8:25 a.m. Tuesday am a 14-year-old was walking to school when they were sexually assaulted by a suspect claiming to have a knife, police said.
“Giles Jr. was interviewed by BPD Sex Crimes Detectives and admitted his involvement in the sexual battery incident that occurred on May 21st, 2022. During this interview, further information and evidence was obtained in relation to the above cases,” police said.
“Based on evidence from all involved cases, it was determined that Giles Jr. was the suspect in all five sexual assaults.”
