This story isn't about a person. It's about a dog. While walking with my family through Grand Park, I met a dog named Shadow. With stumpy legs and a round tummy this 5-year-old pup ran to me, giving me a quick lick before rolling over. She is homeless. Shadow's owner committed suicide in front of her. We can't know how, or even if, she felt anything about that day, but when I saw her she behaved like any other loving pet. Shadow is one of many dogs in need of a caring home and currently living with members of the <a href="http://www.coastalgsr.org/index.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Coastal German Shepherd Rescue</a>. Rescue volunteers said Shadow is a friendly dog and great for families. In the five minutes we played together, she was great with my 16-month-old. The rescue holds adoption events every Saturday outside <a href="../../listings/petsmart-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Petsmart</a> in Town Center. <a href="https://patch.com/A-d1BP" rel="nofollow">Read more about the rescue in my previous story</a>.
