UPDATE: Laguna Niguel Kohl's Burglarized

The store reportedly suffered a burglary, but did not have much, if any, loss.

UPDATE:

SWAT officers came up empty today in a search for a crowbar-wielding burglar at a Kohl’s department store in Laguna Niguel.

Employees arriving for work at 5:30 a.m. at 27380 Heather Ridge saw the suspect on a surveillance camera and called authorities, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The suspect smashed a jewelry display case, but it’s unclear whether he took anything, Hallock said.

“There may be a small amount of jewelry missing,” the lieutenant said.

SWAT officers began combing through the store about 7 a.m. and finished the search about 10:30 a.m. without finding the suspect, Hallock said. The search delayed the store’s normal opening time by several hours. he said.

The department store Kohl’s in Laguna Niguel was burglarized on Wednesday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirms.

The store, located at 27380 Heather Ridge, did not have much taken in the incident.

“It was a burglary with very minimal loss,” Lt. Jeff Hallock said. “[We’re] still assessing the loss, if any.”
