OC Parks Cleanup, Maintenance: How You Can Help

January offers several chances for volunteers to help preserve, restore and clean up Orange County-run parks:

Jan. 19, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, 8-11 a.m.
Laguna Canyon Foundation and O.C. Parks staff will lead a project of nonnative-plant removal and/or planting of native plants.
18751 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, Little Sycamore Canyon Staging Area/Nix Nature Center (west side of Laguna Canyon Road/SR-133, about  3.5 miles south of I-5/405)

Jan. 19, Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, 8–11 a.m.
Laguna Canyon Foundation and O.C. Parks staff will join with volunteers in a project of nonnative-plant removal.

Jan. 26, Caspers Wilderness Park, 9-11 a.m.
Volunteers ages 16 and up will work with Caspers park rangers to maintain and brush trails. Bring water, work gloves, sunscreen and sturdy hiking shoes. Rain will cancel the event.

Jan. 26, Wieder Regional Park, 9 a.m.-noon
Park staff and volunteer activities could include nonnative-plant removal, trail maintenance and trash cleanup. No experience is necessary; water, snacks and tools are provided. Rain cancels the event.
