• 'Mr. Bill's' weather station was lost in Altadena fire, but no one has forgotten its significance (pasadenastarnews.com) — Altadena resident Bill Westphal, known as “Mr. Bill,” lost his longtime rooftop weather station and home on Hollyslope Road in the devastating Eaton fire, but plans to rebuild both within a year. His AltadenaWeatherCam and detailed local readings once guided neighbors, National Weather Service staff, and even sheriff’s helicopter pilots, and fellow Altadenans are already rallying around his effort to restore this beloved community resource.
   

• Santa Clarita resident and ‘Call of Duty' creator Vince Zampella dies in crash (signalscv.com) — A fiery crash on the Angeles Crest Highway near Altadena has killed Vince Zampella, the 55-year-old co-creator of “Call of Duty” and a well-known Valencia resident. The Altadena CHP office has not yet released details, but neighbors remember him as a generous car enthusiast who welcomed local teens into his garage and home.
