Burglary Suspect in Custody After Leading Arcadia Police on Chase to Westmont

Paramount resident Steve Gainer, 32, was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and felony evading.

ARCADIA, CA - Officers arrested a burglary suspect who led them on a vehicle chase from a home in Arcadia to the Foothill (210) Freeway and ending in the Westmont community of unicorporated Los Angeles County, police said Saturday.

Officers dispatched at approximately 8:55 p.m. Friday on report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Monte Place saw a suspect standing by the vehicle, the Arcadia Police Department reported.

The vehicle then left the location and was last seen southbound on Highland Oaks Drive. Responding Arcadia Police Officers located the vehicle getting onto the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway and attempted to stop it.

The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit began on the freeway. The California Highway Patrol ultimately took over the pursuit and the driver was apprehended.

A police scanner and stolen property from the residence in the 200 block of Monte Place were located inside of the suspect's vehicle.

Paramount resident Steve Gainer, 32, was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and felony evading.

Gainer was being held in lieu of $125,000 bail at the Arcadia City Jail.
