A woman in the 400 block of West Camino Real Avenue was the victim of a distraction burglary on Saturday when a man posing as a tree trimmer and his partner got access to her home.
The crime was carried out by two suspects, the first of whom convinced the victim to let him into her backyard to discuss potential tree trimming services, according to Lt. Mike Castro of the Arcadia Police Department.
Once they were in the backyard, a second suspect came into the home and took jewelry and money from inside.
The victim described the man who posed as the tree trimmer as 35 to 40 years old, brown hair and wearing a baseball cap, Castro said.
Distraction burglaries, where someone finds a way to get the victim outside of her home or otherwise distract her from someone entering the home, are common in Arcadia and other nearby cities, Castro said.
However, he said he did not know of any other instances of this exact type of distraction burglary that have happened recently.
