Fire Blotter: Man Flees After Motorcycle Crash

Sunday, October 20

At 7:21 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 600 block of East Encino Court. Fire crews arrived to find that an 89 year old female who had fallen to the floor around midnight the previous evening and was unable to get up. The patient was not able to call for help until morning. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene; including intravenous access, 12 lead electrocardiogram, and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.

At 6:47 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical call in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a male patient who was feeling nauseous and dizzy. The patient stated he sustained a hard hit during football practice earlier in the afternoon. Paramedics treated and transported the patient to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Tuesday, October 22
At 9:38 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a motorcycle down in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find a 30 year old male who was involved in a motorcycle accident, engaged security officers in a foot pursuit, and fell from the rim of a dumpster. The patient was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was very combative, appearing to be under the influence. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
Wednesday, October 23
At 9:13 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 5700 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from head, neck, and lower back pain after a fall. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including oxygen therapy and spinal immobilization. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, October 24
At 5:48 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 2200 block of North Highland Oaks Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a 51 year old male suffering from a severe laceration to his left arm from a power saw. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including intravenous access and oxygen therapy. The patient was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
Friday, October 25
At 6:34 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a traffic collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of El Dorado Street and South Second Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a male patient suffering from minor to moderate injuries after losing control of his motorcycle. The patient received advanced life support at the scene; including oxygen therapy, full spinal immobilization, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and drug therapy for pain management. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital Emergency Department for further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, October 26
At 10:28 p.m., Engine105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, Pasadena Truck 32, Rescue Ambulance 106 and Battalion 105 responded to the odor of smoke inside a building in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene and found a slight odor of smoke inside the lobby of a theater. The theater was evacuated as a precautionary measure. Two engine companies investigated inside the complex, while the truck company made access to the HVAC units on the roof. The odor dissipated and the source was determined to be a heater unit activation.
