Steam From Clothing Store Sets Off Fire Alarm

At 4:26 p.m. on July 1, Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to reported fire alarm activation in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire crews investigated the source of the alarm and determined that steam from a clothing store was the source of the activation. Truck 105 utilized horizontal positive pressure ventilation to remove the steam. The alarm was reset with no additional activation.

At 6:34 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in the 800 block of West Coronado Drive. Fire crews evaluated a male patient experiencing weakness and dizziness for several days. Paramedics provided advanced life support measures on scene, including intravenous access, oxygen therapy and 12-lead cardiac monitoring. The patent was transported to for further evaluation and treatment.
Medical Assist: Altered Mental Status
At 11:35 a.m. on July 3, Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist at the intersection of East Foothill Boulevard and North Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from an altered mental status. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including oxygen therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, blood glucose monitoring and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Smoldering Ashes From Barbecue Spark grass Fire
At 10:26 p.m. on July 4, Engine 106 responded to a reported grass fire in the 300 block of West Las Flores Avenue. Fire crews found a small grass and shrub fire that had burned approximately ten feet of fencing. The fire was extinguished by bystanders prior to Fire Department arrival. The cause of the fire was determined to be smoldering ashes from a barbeque that were placed in plastic trash containers. The entire area was extinguished, overhauled, and foamed to prevent re-ignition.
Medical Assist: Shortness of Breath
At 4:37 p.m. on July 5, Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 2100 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a female patient who was suffering from severe shortness of breath. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including oxygen therapy, drug therapy, 12-lead cardiac monitoring and intravenous access. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Vegetation Fire
At 9:34 p.m. on July 5, Engine 105 responded to a reported vegetation fire in the 400 Block of East Santa Clara Street. Fire personnel found light smoke coming from the rear of the location. Further investigation identified a small vegetation. Fire crews extinguished overhauled the fire with hand lines and hand tools. An investigation of the scene revealed no suspicious activity.
Mulch Piles Catch Fire
At 2: 40 p.m. on July 6, Engine 106 responded to a report of an outside fire in the 300 block of North Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel investigated smoke in the area coming from large mulch piles located on the property. Fire crews applied water and Compressed Air Foam to the area for penetration. Due to the size of the piles, personnel spent several hours breaking them apart to prevent re-ignition.
Medical Assist: Seizures
At 12:57 p.m. on July 7, Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in the 100 block of Naomi Avenue. Fire personnel evaluated a male patient who was suffering from an altered mental status due to post-seizure activity. The patient received advanced life support at the scene, including oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, blood glucose monitoring and drug therapy. The patient was transported to Arcadia Methodist Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
