Going on Vacation? Get Volunteer Arcadia Police to Watch Your House

The city reminds residents that they can request extra patrols when they're away in the wake of a home invasion robbery on Norman Avenue last week.

Did you know about the "extra watch list?"

Arcadia City Clerk Gene Glasco reminded residents this week that they can request extra patrols in their neighborhood when they're away on vacation.

Prompted by a home invasion robbery on Norman Avenue last week, Glasco said during the City Council's regular meeting that residents can be placed on the list simply by calling police dispatch.

"When someone or a family is planning a trip out of town they can have their property watched," Glasco told Patch. "The whole idea of having a marked police car driving around the neighborhood is it really serves as a deterrent."

Volunteer officers will patrol the area and sometimes check the front door and backyards of properties to see if windows are ajar, Glasco said. Glasco is a volunteer officer himself and he and his partner patrolled Norman Avenue on Wednesday night, he said.

To be placed on the list, call 626-574-5123.
