Arcadia firefighters and police officers honored the nearly 3,000 people who died in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history.
Arcadia's first responders honored the New York peace officers who died in the 9/11 terrorist attack with a solemn ceremony Tuesday morning.
They gathered in front of their respective stations to read the names of every fallen NY firefighters and police officers; flags were lowered to half-staff. The ceremonies began at exactly 6:59 a.m., marking the moment the first plane struck the twin towers.

Meanwhile, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, who represents Arcadia and other San Gabriel Valley cities, released the following statement:
“I was in Washington D.C. on that fateful day and witnessed the devastating aftermath of the attack on the Pentagon. Today, we remember those that perished in Washington, Pennsylvania and in the World Trade Center, the heroic first responders and the men and women in our armed services fighting to protect our nation. To prevent future acts of terror, we must never forget September 11th and remain vigilant and prepared in our efforts to combat global terrorism.”
