Police Blotter: Arcadia Officer Nabs Suspected San Bernardino Felon
The Arcadia Police Department also dealt with two washing machine coin box burglaries.

For the period of July 22-28, the responded to 850 calls for service, 113 of which required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Commercial Burglary
Shortly after 7 a.m. on July 22, two commercial burglaries were reported to have occurred overnight to businesses on West Las Tunas Drive. The first took place in the 00 block, the second in the 500 block. The suspect(s) broke the glass of the front doors of each business and stole money from the cash registers. Although the business locations are not related, the crimes appear to have been carried out by the same suspect(s).
Hit-And-Run Collision, Alcohol Suspected Cause
At approximately 10 p.m. on July 22, a two-vehicle collision occurred at Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue. The driver who caused the collision with an unsafe left turn fled the scene and sped off. She eventually lost control of her vehicle and became involved in a second collision that involved a light pole at Huntington Drive and First Avenue. Officers determined she had been driving under the influence of alcohol. The 23-year-old was arrested and charged with DUI and hit-and-run.
Foiled Attempt to Steal From Washing Machine Coin Box
At about 7:15 a.m. on July 23, officers were called to an apartment complex located in the 800 block Fairview Avenue on reports that a man had attempted to break into the washing machine coin box. A witness blocked the suspect’s car and would not allow him to leave. Officers arrived and arrested the 33-year-old suspect, along with a 21-year-old female accomplice. Both were booked on felony charges at the Arcadia City Jail.

Construction Site Burglary
A burglary to a construction site located in the 600 block East Live Oak Avenue was reported at about 9:15 a.m. on July 23. The site supervisor found the gate lock cut. Several table saws, along with an electrical box, were gone. The incident occurred overnight.
Drunk Man Creates Disturbance, Refuses to Pay for Coffee
Around 1:19 a.m. on July 24, a man made his way into an open business located in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive. The man was reportedly causing a disturbance, and left without paying for the cup of coffee he ordered. Officers detained him and determined he was intoxicated. The 53-year-old was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and booked at the Arcadia City Jail.
Vehicle Burglary
Sometime between 9 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. on July 24, a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of South Baldwin Avenue was burglarized. The suspect(s) punched the door locks and opened the vehicle before removing $20 in cash.
Driving Without a License
Around 4 a.m. on July 25, an officer stopped a vehicle with illegally tinted windows on First Avenue near Colorado Boulevard. The driver did not have a license and had multiple previous license suspensions. The 22-year-old driver was issued a misdemeanor citation in the field.

Shoplifting from Sport Chalet
Shortly after 11 a.m. on July 25, officers responded to the at the regarding a man detained on suspicion of theft. The suspect allegedly took a pair of gloves from the store without paying. Investigators reportedly found other stolen clothing, as well as narcotics paraphernalia, on the 25-year-old suspect's person. He was arrested on misdemeanor charges and booked at the Arcadia City Jail.
Embezzlement
At approximately 12:23 p.m. on July 26, an officer was called to at the Santa Anita Mall regarding an employee detained for theft. Store loss prevention agents had reportedly caught the female employee taking multiple items of clothing from the store. During their interview, the 19-year-old employee admitted to additional thefts. She was arrested for commercial burglary and booked at the Arcadia City Jail.
AHS Student's Car Vandalized
Around 3:15 p.m. on July 26, a vehicle vandalism was reported to have occurred in the parking lot. The student had parked his vehicle in the lot at about 7:45 a.m. and returned to his car at about 1:25 p.m. Suspect(s) had scratched the sides, doors and hood of the car, causing extensive damage.
San Bernardino County Felony Suspect Caught
At about 7:27 a.m. on July 27, an officer conducted a stop on a vehicle being driven on Baldwin Avenue near Huntington Drive. The driver was a suspected felon wanted out of San Bernardino County. The suspect was arrested and later released to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputies.
Coin Box Burglary
A burglary to a laundry room coin box located in the 900 block of West Duarte Road was reported at about 9:15 a.m. on July 27. The property manager found a washing machine and coin box in the laundry room broken and the change from the coin box removed. The incident occurred overnight.
Auto Burglary
At approximately 3:10 P.M. on July 28, the victim of an auto burglary reported their vehicle had been broken into while parked in the parking structure of 410 East Huntington Drive. The crime occurred between 9:50 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Suspect(s) entered the vehicle by smashing the driver’s side rear window. They removed two bags containing clothing.
Dumpster Fire
Shortly after 11:11 p.m. on July 28, officers responded to the 100 block of E Santa Clara Street regarding a dumpster fire. Officers assisted firefighters in extinguishing the fire. Fire personnel were unable to determine the origin of the fire.
