VIDEO: Design Students Turn Windstorm-Felled Tree Into Art

Pasadena Art Center College of Design students made art pieces from debris and they can be seen at the Arboretum.

Sixteen students from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena created works made from wood salvaged from trees felled by last December's windstorm.

They displayed their creations, which include clocks, lamps, a croquet mallet, a wine holder, a cheese board and jewelry, in the library at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden.

The Arboretum invited the students and 114 other artists to commemorate the fallen trees through art. The artists auctioned off their work Friday. Part of the auction proceeds will go to the Arboretum Tree Fund to help replace the lost trees.
