West Covina Bicyclist Struck, Airlifted to USC Medical Center

West Covina, CA--A bicyclist was injured this morning when he was struck by a vehicle in an unincorporated area just outside West Covina and trapped underneath it, authorities said.

The accident was reported just after 6:30 a.m. around the intersection of Badillo Street and where Sunset Avenue becomes North Irwindale Avenue, said Lt. Jerry Pearman of the West Covina Police Department. Los Angeles County firefighters freed the bicyclist from underneath the vehicle and the bicyclist was airlifted to County USC Medical Center, Pearman said.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating since the accident was in an unincorporated area, he said.
