Baldwin Park K-9 Unit Could be Used for Drug Searches in La Puente

City Council to vote on this and other measures during their meeting Wednesday.

The K-9 unit of the could soon provide assistance with drug searches to the Hacienda and La Puente Unified School District, if a proposed agreement is approved tonight by the City Council.

The evening's agenda also includes the possible approval of a contract for a construction company to install traffic lights , as well as Froster Ave. and Frazier St.

If the first agreement is approved it would allow police dogs to search for narcotics in all the District's buildings and vehicles, but not on individuals. The BPPD would not pursue any investigations or arrests in the case of any findings.

The City would receive payment of $73.06 per hour of K-9 service.

The contract for the almost imminent installation of the traffic lights would be for $267,350.

The City would also receive a report about the findings obtained during the , and it will present the conclusive report about the remodeling of .
