Baldwin Park to Discuss Soda Tax in Emergency Meeting

The city of Baldwin Park will discuss Wednesday night the possibility to call for a special election to place a sugar tax measure on the November 6 ballot.

The emergency meeting was expected after , that would ask residents to approve a tax on soft drinks.

According to the city agenda, Lozano requested the "council discussion and direction to staff to schedule a meeting and prepare the necessary documents for the Council to declare a fiscal emergency".

The City Council is not expected to vote tonight but to instruct the administraton to prepare a staff report for next week.
