BP Gang Member Pleads Not Guilty of Shooting At Deputies

Eastside Gang Member Raymond Vasquez pleaded not guilty on Friday May 18th in connection with the car chase that ended in Baldwin Park.

Raymond Vásquez, a documented Eastside gang member and who authorities said shot at Sheriff deputies during a car pursuit that ended in Baldwin Park pleaded not guilty of criminal charges.

Vasquez, a 29-year-old resident of Los Angeles and Jimmy Osuna, 21-year-old and resident of Baldwin Park, were in a stolen car from which shots were fired at pursuing sheriff's deputies on Wednesday May 16th.

Vasquez enter his plea on Friday May 18th. and Osuna will be arraigned Monday.

Authorities said they were spotted in a stolen car in Pomona by a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Narcotics Strike Team.

The vehicle was followed until a marked patrol car from the sheriff's Industry Station arrived, at which time the chase began.  During the pursuit, rounds were fired at deputies through the front windshield of the car. No one was injured.

Near the end of the chase, a woman identified as Catherine Bryant jumped from the moving car and was taken into custody. She was not charged.

The vehicle then crashed, and two men fled into a residential neighborhood in the 13600 block of Monterey Avenue. Both were arrested after an extensive search.

Los Angeles District Attorney charged Vasquez with one count of assault with a fire arm upon a police officer, discharge a fire arm with gross negligence and resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.

He also had one charge of possesion of a fire arm by a felon, since he was previously convicted of unlawfully taking or driving a Vehicle in 2010.

Osuna has been charged with 2 counts: Evading a Police officer and unlawfully taking or driving a Vehicle.

He also had previous convictions that include drug transportation charges, and to be a felon in possesion of a fire arm.
