The agenda for Wednesday night's City Council meeting includes discussion of a contract that would increase registration fees for the trustees of foreclosed residential properties in the city.
Baldwin Park already has a system in place, since 2009, that requires the trustees or owners for foreclosed homes to register the properties with the city and pay an administrative fee. Â The city then monitors the home to make sure it is being maintained while it is unoccupied.
That fee is currently $90, but the city's proposal is to contract with a private company to do the work, and raise the fee to $473.77, according to the staff report on the issue.
According to city records, there are approximately 250 foreclosed homes in the city as of June 2013 with 27 more homeowners in the process of being foreclosed on.
The City Council meeting will be at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Â To see the full agenda of what will be discussed at the meeting, visit the city's website.
