Class Ring Missing for 29 Years Reunited with Owner

Richard Mason said he last saw his ring in 1987 when he gave it to his then girlfriend. After they broke up, he didn't see the ring again.

EL MONTE, CA -- An Arroyo High School class ring missing since 1987 was returned Wednesday.

The ring was found at the school by custodian “Beto” Gonzalez, who gave it to his wife, Carol Gonzalez, a counselor at El Monte High School. The counselor gave the ring to El Monte Police Department School Resource Officer Joe Garcia, Capt. David Vautrin said.

The ring had some identifying features which enabled Garcia to locate its owner, Richard Mason, a 1985 graduate of Arroyo High School, Vautrin said.
