Community Garden Celebrates 9th. Anniversary of "Moveable Feast"
Those that attend the celebration will have the opportunity to sample the students' delicious, healthy recipes.

This Friday school authorities and will be hosting a “Nutrition in the Community Garden” Celebration to commemorate 9 years of the 'Moveable Feast, a traveling food preparation and nutrition education program.

Community leaders will congratulate students from the for their accomplishments at the Baldwin Park Community Garden.
Fourth-grade students from and elementary schools visited the community garden on a regular basis to learn how to harvest produce and prepare healthy, nutritious snacks.

Launched in 2003, the program encourages business, officials and community leaders to serve as volunteer chefs, who then create healthy recipes for fourth-grade students.
“I really enjoyed serving as a guest chef,” says Maggie Pierce, director of Kaiser Permanente. “Programs that teach children about the importance of finding the right balance between a healthy diet and physical activity are essential."
Those that attend the celebration will have the opportunity to sample the students’ delicious, healthy recipes, said Monita Singh, Public Affairs Representative of Kaiser Permanente.
Additionally the Nutrition in the Community Garden cookbook will be unveiled. It features recipes that the students prepared throughout the program in addition to student testimonials and artwork.
Located on a quarter acre of land donated by Kaiser Permanente, the Baldwin Park Community Garden is one of the best kept secrets in the San Gabriel Valley. The garden has been providing hands-on learning in the area of introductory gardening, plant science, composting, and nutrition to both adults and children for the many.
