Fourteen Felony Charges for Couple Arrested During Police Pursuit

Miguel Del Real and Tanya Elizabeth Rodríguez face various charges including attempted murder, assault with firearms, drug possession, and evading and officer, among others.

More than 14 felony charges including attempted murder, assault with firearms and drug possession were filed against

Miguel Del Real, a 20-year-old documented gang member from Baldwin Park, and Tanya Elizabeth Rodríguez, 33, resident of El Monte, led on a high-speed chase on May 30.

Officers attempted to detain the couple near the corner of Francisquito Ave. and Willow Ave. in Baldwin Park, but were not able to do so. The chase ended in West Covina, after Del Real drove into Bromley St., a dead-end road.

Del Real and Rodriguez are both in custody, and their bail has been set at $2 million and $150,000, respectively.

According to the official complaint, at least three of the charges against Del Real, also known as Chapitos or Scrappy, are due to assault commited against three people on April 10, 2012. He was also charged with attempted murder related to a recent incident on May 25.

The District Attorney's office added two additional charges for assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one for use of a handgun against another person.

Charges were also added for shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, grand theft auto, evading an officer and for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Tanya Rodríguez was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and narcotics possession, for methamphetamines.

Both will have be arraigned at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in West Covina on June 14.
