Hundreds of Pets Spayed and Neutered For Free in Baldwin Park

The program that offers free spay/neuter surgeries continues for residents in Baldwin Park and El Monte.

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation informed Wednesday that a total of 296 dogs and cats has been spayed or neutered since they launched a . 

The program started two weeks ago as an effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals that end up in the .

According to Evelina Villa, spokesperson from the Los Angeles Departament of Animal Care and Control, the promotion will be ongoing until the funds are depleted.

Authorities said that cost for this surgery depends on various factors and very generally it can cost between $50-$200.

The program is still going on and the number of people taking advantage is growing. This service is for pet owners who live in the following zip codes: 91731, 91732, 91733 in El Monte and 91706 in Baldwin Park.

Those interested in taking advantage of this service should call 818-755-6045 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday to register for the pet surgery. 

People will be directed to one of the three veterinary hospitals in the area. 

There is a limit of 5 pets per household. People will be required to show a photo ID or a current utility bill to the hospital at the time of surgery. There are no other requirements. Only those living within these zip codes are eligible.
