Residents Honored for their 40 Years of Service

Alberto Serrano, Fernando Prado, Miguel Espinosa and Ruben Alcantara were honored during a tree planting event.

The City of Baldwin Park recognized recently four Waste Management employees celebrating their 40th anniversary with the company by planting trees along Olive Street in their honor.

"40 years it is an entire life. I have a lot of gratitude for the City, I am very thankful" said Fernando Prado. "We really never expect something like this."

According to Lily Quiroa, communications manager for Waste Management in Baldwin Park they all started their careers with a family operated waste service company called Webster’s Refuse Disposal, which was later purchased by Waste Management.

“It is truly an honor to recognize these four Waste Management employees, their commitment and dedication to the residents of Baldwin Park is to be commended,” said Susan Rubio, Mayor Pro Tem of Baldwin Park. “Their roots to Baldwin run deep and we felt that as a new Tree City USA designee, recognizing them by planting commemorative trees would be very appropriate to acknowledge our appreciation to their commitment to our city.”

Waste Management has been the long standing waste and recycling provider in the city of Baldwin Park. It’s location on Stewart Street and Live Oak Avenue serves as the main facility for its San Gabriel and Pomona Valley operations.

Waste Management’s Baldwin Park operations employ over 170 employees; over a third of its employees and families reside in Baldwin Park.

“These employees represent a combined one-hundred twenty years experience,” said Larry Metter, Area Vice-President for Waste Management. “Their valued expertise and stellar customer service truly represents what Waste Management stands for and believes in, we are truly humbled by their loyalty and dedication to our company.”
