SIGALERT: Seafood Floods San Gabriel Valley Freeway Monday
A big rig hauling an enormous amount of seafood was downed in lanes on the 605 to the 60, Monday, California Highway Patrol reported.
BALDWIN PARK, CA — If you're heading southbound on the 605 toward the 60, find an alternate route. A big rig hauling about 20 tons of seafood overturned Monday morning, spilling its load, which prompted the closure of the transition roads from the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to the eastbound and westbound Pomona (60) Freeway in the Industry area, according to California Highway Patrol.
Connectors were closed during cleanup until early afternoon while CalTrans cleaned up the mess. A guardrail was also smashed during the incident.
The crash occurred at just before 11 a.m., when the big rig tipped on its left side for unknown reasons, according to CHP. The road is expected to fully reopen sometime before afternoon rush hour begins, CalTrans said.
