Police Arrest 12 People, Impound 33 Cars During Checkpoint

Baldwin Park police released the results of a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint held last Friday.

A total of 12 people were arrested last Friday when the . At least four of the motorists were found driving under the influence of alcohol. 

According to Lt. David Reynoso, spokesman for the Baldwin Park police, a total of 33 cars were impounded during the operation held on Ramona Boulevard, close to the Freeway 605 intersection. 

Two men were arrested for obstructing or delaying officers during the checkpoint, one was arrested for driving with a suspended license and one was picked up on a warrant, said Reynoso.

There were also three men and one female arrested for driving without licenses and without valid identification.

According to Reynoso, people detained for not having proper documentation are released with a traffic citation once the police prove their identities through a fingerprinting process.

Police said checkpoints are a proven and effective tool for achieving the city's goal in removing impaired drivers from streets.
