50 Cases Of Hand Sanitizer Burn In Warehouse Fire Off 60 Freeway

The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:50 p.m. Monday next to the Santa Fe Warehouse in the 28000 block of Eucalyptus Avenue.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A pile of pallets and boxes containing 50 cases of hand sanitizer caught fire Monday outside a Moreno Valley warehouse, with flames extending to several big rig trailers parked nearby.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:50 p.m. next to the Santa Fe Warehouse in the 28000 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, near Auto Mall Drive, just south of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the pallets and cardboard boxes that contained packages of hand sanitizer. The flames reached two trailers unhitched from trucks.

Firefighters deployed containment lines around the blaze, preventing it from reaching the warehouse.

At 3:33 p.m., crews contained the blaze although they were expected to remain at the scene for several hours.

County Department of Environmental Health inspectors were requested to assess the situation.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
