Corona Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Allegedly Attacking Real Estate Agent In Banning
The real estate agent was attacked inside a home that was supposed to be vacant, police said.

BANNING, CA — A Corona man suspected of attacking a real estate agent inside what was supposed to be a vacant home in Banning was charged Tuesday with attempted murder and other crimes.
Daniel Moreno, 32, was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon at the Banning Justice Center. He is facing one count each of attempted murder, attempted mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon (non-firearm) to cause great bodily injury, assault causing great bodily injury, false imprisonment, and evading arrest. He also faces charges related to his status as a convicted felon.
He is being held at Banning's Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility without bail.

According to the Banning Police Department, Moreno violently attacked the agent shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 2.
The agent was visiting a home that was supposed to be vacant in the 1200 block of Butterfly Way, but Moreno was inside. The area is part of the newly developed Vista Robles project.

Moreno fled the scene in a Hyundai Elantra, but law enforcement spotted the vehicle a short time later. A vehicle chase ensued onto westbound Interstate 10 and then state Route 60 into Moreno Valley, where Moreno was eventually arrested.
In addition to Banning PD, the Beaumont Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol assisted in getting Moreno into custody.
As a result of the alleged attack, the real estate agent was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the Banning Police Department. An update on the victim's condition was unavailable Tuesday.
It's unclear whether Moreno knew the agent.
The Banning Police Department stated that Moreno had prior run-ins with officers in the city.
