BEAUMONT, CA — Officials broke ground Monday morning on a major retail project in Beaumont that will eventually see the construction of a Target store and Sprouts Farmers Market, among others.

An official groundbreaking ceremony was held at 9:30 a.m. for the Oak Valley Village development, being built along Oak Valley Parkway and Interstate 10, near Oak View Drive.

The 28-acre shopping center will be anchored by the big-box store Target, with additional tenants anticipated, including Sprouts.

A grand opening for the Oak Valley Village center is slated for the second half of 2027.

According to the city, seeing the project come to life is a milestone that "marks a major investment in Beaumont’s local economy, expanding shopping, dining, and employment opportunities for residents."

Along with city officials, dignitaries from Regency Development Group were also on hand Monday. Regency, based in Florida, is the development company behind the project.

In a news release distributed in September, Beaumont City Manager Elizabeth Gibbs said the Oak Valley Village project "wouldn’t be possible without the continued vision and support of our City Council and the relationship built with Regency Centers."

The shopping center is expected to draw local residents and I-10 travelers. According to marketing material for the project posted on the commercial real estate website LoopNet, 93,000 vehicles per day pass I-10 at Oak Valley Parkway, and another 6,800 vehicles travel daily along Oak Valley Parkway at Golf Club Drive.

Oak Valley Village has been a long time in the making. Environmental documents for the project were filed in 2007.
