Person Hit, Killed By Commuter Train On Tracks In RivCo

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which manages security for Metrolink, was handling the investigation.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A person was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Jurupa Valley Friday, but it was unclear whether the fatality was an accident or suicide.

The individual, whose identity was not immediately known, including gender, was hit about 3:25 p.m. near the crossing at the intersection of Jurupa Road and Van Buren Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

All train traffic was stopped between the Pedley and East Ontario Metrolink stations for investigators, according to the agency. Delays were expected to span several hours.
