2 Belmont Homes Burglarized Over the Weekend
Police say that the burglaries appear to be the latest in a string that have been occurring across the Peninsula.

BELMONT, CA -- Police in Belmont are investigating burglaries, which occurred on these past Friday and Saturday nights, in the western end of the City. The burglaries appear to be the latest in a series occurring on the Peninsula.
First, at about 8:30 pm on Friday, March 22, a resident in the 4100 block of Skymont Drive said he was watching TV when he heard a loud noise. Moments later he saw what appeared to be a flashlight in his hallway. The resident called out and an unidentified suspect fled from the home. The resident discovered then that the suspect had shattered the rear sliding glass door and apparently exited the way they entered. Belmont Police responded and searched the surrounding area, but no suspect was found.
The suspect was apparently scared off before anything was taken.

Then, at about 6:35 pm on Saturday, March 23, a resident on Somerset Court called 911, reporting a window in their home had just been broken. Upon arrival officers learned that the resident, a man in his 80s, was home when he heard a window shatter. When he went to investigate, the resident encountered two males fleeing the home.
One of the suspects, a Hispanic male, about 25 or 26 years old, who was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and light blue jeans, pushed the resident, who fell. The resident was treated at the scene by San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department paramedics for non life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
