Belmont Auto Burglary Totals on Par With 2012
Five-year auto burglary stats were provided by the Belmont Police Department.

Following the arrest last week by Belmont police of two men and two juveniles for burglarizing a vehicle in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot, Patch user Gladwyn d’Souza asked if auto burglaries are up in Belmont.
According to Capt. Patrick Halleran of the Belmont Police Department, the legal definition of auto burglary is theft of property from a secured or unsecured (unlocked) vehicle. Halleran says this includes siphoning gas from a vehicle. (This definition does not include stolen vehicles.)
Halleran provided Patch with statistics for the last five years on auto burglaries. He noted that if burglaries stay on track for the remainder of 2013, the number should be close to the 2012 total.
