Belmont District Mapping Tool Launches
The City needs community input to help draw new maps.
Press release from the City of Belmont:
Feb. 1, 2022
The City of Belmont is in the process of moving from an at-large election system to a district specific election system. We want the community to tell us what the districts should look like. Drawing these new district maps is intended to be a community-driven process and we are asking the public to participate by drawing proposed district boundaries in our newly launched interactive mapping tool. This will help us better understand how you see your neighborhoods and community. Creating district lines can amplify and empower the voices of Belmont residents. This is Your Voice, Your Belmont!

The finalized maps will transition Belmont to district elections by November of 2022. This process requires participation from the public to create election districts that are balanced in size and protect the interests of the communities within those districts. U.S. Census Bureau Data from 2020, the most recent census, will be used during this process to ensure equal representation by each elected official.
The change will bring the city into compliance with the California Voting Rights Act with the creation of four election districts, and a directly elected Mayor-at-Large.
