Community members on the Peninsula are gearing up to cheer on the
Belmont Redwood Shores All-Stars Little League team in the Western Regional
semifinals tonight.
Fans will begin gathering at 5:15 p.m. at Carlmont High School
Student Union at 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont for the 6 p.m. game.
The All-Stars are the first seed playing against fourth seed Arizona.
"People are just over the moon on how far the All-Stars have come.
Whether they win or not these kids have made us proud," Redwood City spokeswoman Sheri Costa-Batis said.
A barbecue organized by the Belmont Fire Department, team T-shirts, a raffle, and a silent auction will raise money to alleviate the team's travel expenses.
Donations to the team can also be made on their website at www.brsll.org.
The winner of tonight's game will advance to the Western Regional Championship game Saturday at 6 p.m. in San Bernardino.
